A multi-phased project of the 1960 Elsa and Robert Sale Residence includes restoration of the house to its original materials and finishes with upgrades to the mechanical and electrical systems. Extraneous rooftop additions and later alterations were removed to return the classic house to its Neutra mid-century single-story parti, complete with corner glazing, spider leg support and extended ribbon windows of the bedroom wing. Phase two examines the addition of cast-in-place concrete sub-terranean spaces of a master suite, guest quarters and sauna/yoga studio that cantilever outward from the hillside toward ocean views. Native hillside planting will be reintroduced to the extensive garden areas.
