Concrete Shell House
Los Angeles2017-Present

Set upon a hillside in Hollywood, this three-bedroom house is composed of a single concrete perimeter wall with a sloped roof parallel to the existing terrain. Entered at the top of the hill, a stair leads down to a mid-level garden court creating one expansive indoor/outdoor space accessed from the public zones of the house. Bedrooms are found on a level further down with generous glazed openings facing eastward toward canyon views. While the floors and interior walls will be framed in wood, the perimeter will be a rough cast concrete, poetically conjuring the infill of a castle ruin.
